In this workshop designed for artists, writers, and scholars, participants learned the basics of US copyright law and how to navigate the world of creative expression through copyright. It was co-facilitated by intellectual property, media, and entertainment attorneys Nancy Wolff and Charity Gates and was moderated by Gracie Golden of the Artistic Freedom Initiative.
Nancy Wolff is a partner at the intellectual property, media, and entertainment law firm of Cowan, DeBaets, Abrahams & Sheppard LLP (CDAS). She is co-chair of the firm's litigation practice group, chair of the art law group, and member of the trademark group. Charity Gates is an associate attorney at CDAS. As a law student, she served as the Articles Editor of the International Comparative, Policy & Ethics Law Review and completed internships at Louis Vuitton Americas, Christie’s, the New York State Supreme Court, and CDAS.
