Are you a scholar, artist, writer, journalist, or human rights defender living in exile in the United States? Are you attracted by the possibility of working in higher education? This interactive workshop will help you understand the processes and expectations and learn what you need to do to prepare yourself for the search.
Presenters include Valerie Sutton (former director of career services, Harvard Graduate School of Education), Kathryn Libal (director of the Gladstein Family Human Rights Institute at the University of Connecticut), Raza Rumi (Hunter College, Ithaca College, Cornell University), Zuhal Yilmaz (UC Riverside, Louisiana State University, North Carolina State), and Azat Gundogan (Cornell University, Florida State University).
The moderator is Carly O'Connell of the Scholar Rescue Fund.
This workshop is presented by the Opportunity Network for At-Risk Writers, Artists, Rights Defenders, and Scholars (ONWARDS) and supported by Cornell University’s Migrations Global Grand Challenge, part of Global Cornell, with support from the Mellon Foundation’s Just Futures Initiative. The project is coordinated by Ithaca City of Asylum, a project of the Center for Transformative Action.
